This was my first time attempting a sunrise summit. I ended up seeing the sunrise from the ridgeline.
I hiked Mount Missouri, Mount Belford and Mount Oxford on 07/24/15, camped below Elkhead Pass that night and then hiked back to the trailhead on 07/25/15.
On the day of the hiking, the morning starting off nice and opened with a mass of columbines. As the day progressed, clouds started to come in, the temperature dropped and then cold rain and wind to cap off the day.
The next morning it was blue skies and warmer weather. I took most of the photos of the wildflowers that morning.
The Jackal Hut trip was my first experience with the 10th Mountain Division Association hut system. The huts sleep several people on basic bunks, and generally have a wood stove / kitchen / water source. You pay per person, and get a nice hike to a quiet cabin where you get to meet other hikers.
